Concept of Toyota FT 86 || debuting at the Geneva Motor Show 2011 event with an indication for the next Toyota sports car design. This marks the return of the passion for driving big cars inspired from Toyota before, starting with the legendary 2000 GT in 1960. Toyota FT 86 || Concept appreciate the history of Toyota’s sports car and the whole orientation of the driver. It was created at Toyota’s European Design Studio ED2, where his style is called “Functional Beauty”. Looks bold, sweeping form produced in accordance with the limits of pure function and aerodynamic car.

Highly aerodynamic bodyshell is stretched tight over the engineering hard points, with the muscular bodywork rendered as compact as possible. The concept measures 4,235mm long, 1,795mm wide and 1,270mm high, with a long, 2,570mm wheelbase. Instead of using heavy weights with a large displacement powertrain to secure performance, the FT 86 returns to the roots of Toyota by combining free-revving boxer petrol engine with six-speed manual transmission and low center of gravity to achieve the best strength to weight ratio.

Both the driving position and the powertrain has been determined lowliness and as far as possible to optimize the balance to produce the maximum poise, agility and stability in high speed. With a front-engine / rear-wheel drive configuration, can give the car feels more livelily with performance that is easily accessible to be used and enjoyed.

Toyota FT 86 || is a new stage in the development, compact rear-wheel drive sports car that is being jointly developed between Toyota and Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru). The model of this car will be launched in Europe in 2012.
